Coaching Partners

Kathie Lumbard

I spent 16 years of my professional career partnering with Fortune 500 companies, leading various initiatives in sales, marketing, education, training, and client business development.  Over the last 8 years, my focus has been on helping businesses go to the next level through the growth of their people and business development strategies. I am passionate about leadership development, team development, and helping organizations leverage their strengths for growth.

The Gallup approach to leadership, team training, and business development is the most researched approach to growth in the world and is utilized by 90% of Fortune 500 companies.  HQ Consulting specializes in providing small to mid-size businesses with the same resources and development tools as large Fortune 500 companies. The Gallup approach to focusing on what is right, combined with the resources I’ve obtained over the last 25 years, provides companies and their teams with the direction necessary for empowering continued success.  I pride myself in knowing that HQ Consulting goes beyond what’s expected and delivers the absolute best possible outcome.

I'm a Kansas native and live in the Prairie Village area with my husband and two daughters.  My career had a nontraditional start—I completed my Associate in Applied Science in 2001. After being in practice as a Registered Dental Hygienist for a few years, I decided to pivot and pursue a professional career in business. This led me to a role in advertising.  Within a couple of years, I began to partner with various Fortune 500 companies and graduated with honors from Baker University in 2009 with a degree in Business Science Management.  In 2020, I attended Gallup's ICF CCE Training Program and obtained Gallup's Global Strength Certification. In May 2023, I completed my Executive MBA through UMKC's Henry Bloch School of Business.  When I'm not coaching or teaching, you'll find me enjoying time with my family, traveling, and looking for educational opportunities to further my professional growth, allowing me to bring the most current strategies to my clients.

For the past 5 years, I have had the pleasure of driving organizational change at an award-winning marketing agency to improve quality, efficiency, and growth. By partnering with cross-functional teams, I am able to streamline processes, increase clarity of roles and responsibilities and reduce risk. Managing change and improving efficiency is a team effort and is critical to business success, but it’s not everyone’s favorite topic. However, it is here, at the intersection of communication and opportunity is where I find my passion for helping businesses thrive. I am a Kansas native and live in the Kansas City area with my wife and two daughters.

I studied Advertising and Leadership Studies at Kansas State University, and I’ve worked for various media companies and advertising agencies; honing my understanding of how the customer and employee experience can help drive growth. Today, I take those skills and use them to create learning opportunities with the goal of building up others, resulting in forming stronger teams. I recently completed the EMBA graduate program through UMKC Henry Bloch School of Business, which has allowed me to be an even stronger resource to my clients and teams. When I am not teaching or coaching, I love listening to vinyl records, making homemade pizza, telling dad jokes, and searching for the city’s best latte.

I'm a liberal arts graduate of Drake University who has over 30 years of work experience in higher education, sales,

marketing, and, most recently, elementary education. And while the industries have changed, one thing that remains constant is my passion for inspiring others and encouraging personal growth. Utilizing contagious enthusiasm and energetic spirit, I work to foster and strengthen relationships within teams. I create opportunities to boost employee engagement and elevate productivity through the use of the 34 themes in Gallup's Clifton’s Strength Finders. I'm a lifelong Kansas City resident and reside in Leawood with my two children and husband. Most days you can find me volunteering in the community, reading a good book, or traveling to new destinations. I'm an advocate in the Special Needs community, where I'm actively involved with fundraising, peer mentoring, and inclusion. I currently serve on the Board of Directors at the AdventHealth Foundation of Kansas City as Secretary and Membership/Next Gen chair.
